Top 100 Golf Courses in South Africa – Firethorn Course No 24 – Golf Digest – 2018
Randpark Club has been the host of SA Open – December 1995,SA Open – January 2000, 2018 Joburg Open – December 2017, 108th SA Open – December 2018, 2019 Nomads Nationals – March 2019.
This very picturesque, immaculately-conditioned, tree-lined course is a pleasure to play and, as one Randpark member observed, even if you’re not on your game it is a very pleasant walk! It is shorter than neighboring Firethorn but because of the abundance of trees lining the fairways there are some tight holes as well as some extremely challenging ones. There is a wide variety of holes and no two holes are remotely alike.

Retief Goosen won the 1995 South African Open here when the course was still known as Randpark and “The Goose” was very impressed with the layout, as was Sweden’s Mathias Gronberg who won the 2000 edition of the SA Open here when it was sponsored by Mercedes Benz. However since the revamp the layout is much-improved and would be a wonderful venue for future SA Opens or Joburg Opens. Superbly conditioned, it is longer and a little more difficult than Bushwillow with a great finish as 16, 17 and 18 are extremely demanding holes – all three potential card-wreckers.

One of Johannesburg’s little golfing gems, which is set in a beautifully treed area next to the Roosevelt Park Recreation Centre.
The club received a “ROCCI” (Roodepoort Chamber of Commerce and Industry) silver award in recognition of the excellent work the club’s top-quality greens staff have done at Creek 9.
Not only is the course fun to play, but it serves as a very good place for established players wanting to sharpen their short games, while what better way for beginners to start golf than on a course like Creek 9 which is the only nine-hole facility of its kind in Johannesburg?
